Very friendly & helpful staff'. Nice breakfast, comfortable rooms. We chose the hotel as it had secure parking for our motorcycles which was very useful. There was a bar right next door & a bike shop just up the road. It was only a short walk into the main (beautiful) town & the charming receptionist recommended a few good places to eat (there are a lot to choose from).
The trains are a bit noisy

The location was mind-blowingly convenient, just a short walk to the vibrant old town filled with jaw-dropping bars and restaurants. Our room was super comfortable, clean, and spacious, with an amazing view of the Chateau across the river. Despite being on a busy corner, the triple glazed windows blocked out all traffic noise. The private parking was a game-changer, making sure our precious sports car stayed safe. The couple running the hotel were incredibly helpful, providing fantastic recommendations for restaurants, attractions, and even caves to explore. The staff's warmth and kindness made us feel right at home. We loved starting our day with the delicious breakfast, while the surprise hot air balloon sighting made our stay even more special. Can't wait to come back!

Friendly staff, comfortable room, not too far from the center of town, they had a lot of leaflets and ideas for attractions in the area to visit during the stay. A minutes walk from the train staion which would make visiting other big towns and cities easy.

Alcyon is in an interesting location close to the railway station and a short walk away (over two bridges) from Saumur centre. It is under new management and the couple looking after it are charming and the lady speaks good English. There is an excellent breakfast buffet which is very good value for money (compared with other French hotels). There is also a closed car park at the rear and it is best to request a parking space in advance as it is quite small. The rooms have been refurbished to quite a high standard with modern en suite facilities that are very good value for money.
The down side to this hotel is noise. It is located on a fairly busy road junction and it is close to a busy railway line. Last year we had a room on the road side which was disturbed by traffic noise if you sleep with the window open (as one must in July), and this year we had a room at the back of the hotel without traffic noise but disturbed by the noise of trains. OK if you're a heavy sleeper.

Location for walking and sightseeing in the local area, wine tasting and generally exploring is perfect. Not the ritz but very clean and the staff were very helpful.
Lack of adequate Wi-fi.and the free-hotspot does not work above the first floor to an acceptable standard.

Secure parking, although it did cost an extra 4 euro per day.Would have been a nice touch if that small matter (as it was in their own back yard) was offered free.
The "saving" for using the room on a single basis was almost totally swallowed up by a breakfast charge of 7 euros per day, whereas I had thought that the double occupancy rate include breakfast. So why not the single occupancy ?
